Day 69 Send An E-card

With all the paper we waste each year, we can build a 12 foot high wall of paper from New York to California!

The World Counts

Every year millions of trees are cut down for human use, being made into paper, cards, packaging, posters, books and more. Some of these products are incredible and particularly helpful to our everyday lives, but is it all necessary? Cards, they are great for expressing a specific message to the people we know. For special occasions, we buy cards and give them to our loved ones. At Christmas, we post them to our neighbors. On birthdays, we give them to wish a happy day. On Wedding Days, we use them to congratulate the newly weds. At funerals, we use them to express our sympathies. When we move house or get a new job, we receive inspiring messages from our loved ones in cards. But are they always necessary?

There are many benefits to switching from cards to e-cards. E-cards are much more planet friendly, they tend to cost less, they are easy to send and can be sent last minute. You can send them immediately or schedule for them to arrive on a particular date.

Friends of the Earth provide resources to encourage people to protect the planet, including an e-card service with a range of beautiful designs. This is a free service to encourage people to pick the eco-friendly alternative to card giving. There is also a option to add a donation to support Friends of the Earth in creating a more sustainable life. I have never sent an e-card before so I just had to try it out, so I have scheduled one to be sent to my friend later on today, just to let them know how much I appreciate them. I included a £2 donation with my card too. Try it!

Have a nice day!
