Day 44 Walk

A lot of us go to the gym turn the treadmill up and walk.. how silly does that sound when you could go out and explore anywhere by simply walking. Walking is often taken for granted, but it is a free and easy way to keep active and a great way to promote a healthy lifestyle.

There are many reasons why we should take up walking everyday. Studies have found many benefits from frequent walking, it encourages a longer life, promotes fat loss, reduces the risk of Coronary Heart Disease, improves Mental Health and mood by reducing stress, anxiety and depression, improves sleep quality and memory, and many more.

I started walking more in January, going for an hour most morning. After signing up for Trek26 I will be putting more effort into walking as I am training to walk 26 miles. On the days that I go for a walk, I feel more motivated for the rest of the day and I find that when I go for an early morning walk, I get much more done throughout the rest of the day.

It’s time to stop under rating walking, as it is by far the easiest exercise to maintain due to being free, less physically restraining, socialable and enjoyable.
