Day 36 Loos For Schools

Can you even begin to imagine life without a toilet? Not in your home, not in your workplace or school, not anywhere. Instead you must find somewhere outside to release, maybe roadside or in a bush. Hoping that you aren’t seen by someone else, or that your waste doesn’t end up in the water that you will drink later on that day. For girls and woman, not attending school due to being on a period.

2.0 billion people still do not have basic sanitation facilities such as toilets or latrines. Of these, 673 million still defecate in the open, for example in street gutters, behind bushes or into open bodies of water.

World Health Organisation

Poor sanitation can lead to people getting sick with diseases such as diarrhea, hepatitis A, typhoid and Cholera, which can often be fatal to people who contract them.

Some 827 000 people in low- and middle-income countries die as a result of inadequate water, sanitation, and hygiene each year.

But having an adequate toilet decreases the spread of such diseases.

WaterAid are dedicated to providing clean water and adequate toilets to 28 different countries. Today I have set WaterAid as my AmazonSmile charity, as I shop on Amazon quite often. AmazonSmile is a great way to support a charity that you are interested in helping. Simply set the charity and purchase eligible AmazonSmile products, once completed 0.5% of the net purchase price is donated to the charity you choose at no extra cost to you. Note: you do have to purchase through AmazonSmile and not the original Amazon. Check here for more details.

Have a nice day!
