Quality of life differs all over the world and the difference between countries can be extreme. A countries quality of life can be affected by many factors, such as natural disasters, economic depression, disease and many more.
Mladen Adamovic founded Numbeo which is a website that measures the quality of life all over the world, by country or city. To measure quality of life, Numbeo looks at 6 different areas, these are Cost of Living, Property Affordability, Pollution, Crime Rate, Healthcare and Traffic.
The highest and lowest 10 scoring countries out of 83 on Numbeo today, are:
The Highest Scoring
- Switzerland
- Denmark
- Netherlands
- Finland
- Austria
- Australia
- Iceland
- Germany
- New Zealand
- Norway
The Lowest Scoring (10 being the lowest)
- Indonesia
- Vietnam
- Egypt
- Peru
- Sri Lanka
- Philippines
- Kenya
- Bangladesh
- Iran
- Nigeria
I checked Numbeo and the UK is rated number 21, which is fairly high up on the list. To help encourage a better quality of life I pledge to car share when possible, in hope to reduce the effects I have on traffic and pollution. This may only be small in the grand scheme of things, however the more people who join, the bigger the effect!
Have a look to see where your country or even city lands on the scale. Maybe there is something you can do to improve your countries quality of life or help a country who’s quality of life is much lower than your own.
Have a nice day!
